Xbox One March update to bring multiplayer and party improvements

The Xbox One March update will bring multiplayer and party improvements to Microsoft’s next gen console.

Microsoft has confirmed that the March Xbox One update will bring improvements to the multiplayer and party experience, ahead of the Titanfall release date on March 14 in the UK.

“We’ve prided ourselves on having the best multiplayer service for Xbox 360 and we’ve listened to your feedback about the features you want to see on Xbox One and Xbox Live”, said Marc Whitten, Chief Product Officer at Xbox. “We’ve heard your feedback and the team has been working overtime to deliver updates that will significantly improve the multiplayer and party experience on Xbox One.”

The March update will place the friends list at the front of the Xbox One Friends app, and can be accessed via the Social tile on the Home screen or by telling Kinect “Xbox, go to Friends”.

Xbox One users will also notice that party chat will be automatically enabled as soon as you enter a party, and you can even chat to friends playing different games.

“Party chat will be separated from people playing your game, so you can chat with your friends who are online or you can chat with everyone playing the game.”

Similar to the Xbox 360 functionality, you will be able to access an “Invite friends to game” option to get your pals playing the same title or welcome them to your party.

“Recent Players” will also make it easier to discover (or rediscover) Xbox Live gamers playing the same games as you. The list of Recent Gamers displays anyone you’ve recently played with, even if they aren’t part of your Friends list. This way, you’ll find it easier to make new friends on Xbox Live.

“Our March Xbox One system update will start rolling out in early March. We’re excited to get these multiplayer and party improvements out in time for the March 11 [US] launch of Titanfall, the highly anticipated team-based online multiplayer game.”

There is an initial Xbox One February 11 update to be downloaded, but Microsoft has just announced that it will not be arriving today. It will however be available later this week.
