Xbox One Background Music play won't arrive anytime before summer, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has confirmed.

Microsoft's latest console, the Xbox One, isn't lacking many features thanks to regular and console-defining updates, but there is one major thing that its users are clamouring for. And that's background music play.

It's something that was well implemented on the Xbox 360, and is available on its rival the PS4 thanks to PlayStation Music.

But, it's still missing from the Xbox One.

Fans regularly raise the question of when it will arrive with Xbox boss Phil Spencer, and it's risen its head again.

Sadly, it seems we're going to be in for a wait for background music support on the Xbox One.

It's a particular piece of sad news as the Xbox Feedback site currently has over 22,000 votes for the feature, meaning such an addition would make a lot of Xbox One fans happy.

You can have music playback via the Groove app while you're playing a game, but only when it's snapped, which is very irritating if you want the fullscreen game experience.
