Xbox One April System Update introduces voice messages

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One April System Update will introduce voice messages.

The April Xbox One system update enhancements have been detailed in an Xbox Wire post ahead of its release next month.

Any members of the Xbox Preview service will be able to start testing the new features of the April update this week.

“Thanks to suggestions from fans, we continue to focus on finding great ways to bring the Xbox community closer together. Over the past few months, we’ve introduced several features to make it easier to connect to friends and meet new people,” said Xbox in a blog post.

The biggest feature of the April update is voice messages, a popular Xbox 360 feature and on of the most-requested from Xbox fans overall.

You’ll be able to send voice messages to any of your Xbox Live friends, regardless of what Xbox platform they’re currently playing on.

There are also two other new features that are being added to the April patch.

Firstly, Xbox is updating the What’s On section of the Xbox One dashboard to make it more tailored to your play history.

Secondly, there will be dedicated servers for those Xbox One gamers currently struggling with party chat connection issues.

These three features will join those detailed earlier this month for the April update, including improved party chat troubleshooting, deeper intregration of the new Game Hubs and better achievement notifications.

You can check out the video below of Major Nelson walking you through the three new features.
