Brits get stuffed again, quel surprise!
Explain this to me: why does England have to pay more for ”everything”? Non-islanders don’t give me that taxes rubbish, we’re talking sums that are waaay over the odds. We pay more for a Jaguar than the Germans do for heaven’s sake! Do we all have the word “Mug” tattooed onto our foreheads or something? Microsoft seems to think so.
In one sweeping sentence it has told us that the Xbox 360 Premium Edition (the one with the 20GB HDD) will be $400 in the US and therefore 400 euros on the continent and consequently £272 in the UK. In the next sentence it breezily proclaimed that the standard version will cost $300, 300 euros and therefore £210.
Well excuse me, but with the help of the XE Universal Currency Converter I can tell you from today’s exchange rates that we speakers of true English are being overcharged £50 on the Premium pack and £54 on the Standard pack. In fact, we pay just $20 (approx. £10) less for our bare Xbox 360s than the pimping, war mongering, Bush electing, fast food bingers do for their fully loaded versions. What’s fair about that? Even the Frenchies, Germans, Italians, Spaniards, et al save a fiver on the base models.
The big kicker: Where is the Xbox 360 made… California? No, ”’China!”’ I could say protest the console, wait for the PS3, but Sony is only going to do the same to us next year, as will Nintendo once its Revulsion, sorry Revolution, hits the street in 2023. What to do? We’re British, we’ll maintain the stiff upper lip, and grin and bear it as always.
Fleecing date is still currently 25 November.
