WWDC 2015 Dates: Apple confirms June 8-12 event

Apple has confirmed its WWDC 2015 dates, with its annual Worldwide Developers Conference to be held between June 8 and 12.

Scheduled to take place at San Francisco’s Moscone West centre, the annual event looks set to focus on the company’s mobile and Mac operating systems, with iOS 9 a likely debutant.

Open to developers, with live streams available for those unable to attend, WWDC 2015 will consist of more than 100 technical sessions and the company’s now infamous keynote conference.

“The App Store ignited an app ecosystem that is simply amazing, forever changing the lives of customers and creating millions of jobs worldwide,” Apple’s Senior Viceo President of Worldwide Market, Philip Schiller stated.

He added: “We’ve got incredible new technologies for iOS and OS X to share with developers at WWDC and around the world, and can’t wait to see the next generation of apps they create.”

Although it is unlikely that key new hardware will be announced – don’t expect to see the iPhone 6S or the much mooted Apple Car here – given the recent Apple Watch launch, it is likely that much focus will be heaped on the company’s first wearable.

Other possible introductions tipped for a WWDC showing, include the heavily rumoured Apple TV refresh and Beats Music streaming service relaunch.

Applications will close this Friday, April 17, at 10am PDT (6pm BST) before attendees are selected at random.
