Windows 10 Wireless Adapter lets you use your Xbox One controller without the cables
Microsoft has announced a new USB wireless adapter for Windows so you can play with your Xbox One controller without the cables.
That means you’ll soon be able to play on any Windows 10 device with your Xbox One controller, without having to be tethered to it.
The wireless adapter is a simple, black USB dongle that looks a little like an average thumb drive with some Xbox branding on it.
But, it’s a convenient and easy way to go wireless with your existing Xbox One pads.
It will be available from the Microsoft Store from October 22 for $24.99, although UK pricing has yet to be confirmed.

The wireless adapter works with any Windows 10 device as long as it has a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 to plug it into. It also comes with it’s own USB extender cable for ease of placement.
What’s more it’s totally compatible with Windows 10 game streaming from the Xbox One, so for anyone who already has an Xbox One and controller, this will be an easy investment.
However, Microsoft has said that this wireless adapter won’t work with the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, and hasn’t mentioned whether there’s plans to add such support.
Xbox One owners may also need to update their firmware to use the wireless adapter, and of course will need to make the upgrade to Windows 10.
