Microsoft has started the process of rolling its new Windows 10 operating system to some PC owners, 24 hours before its scheduled release.
Windows Central has received word from some pre-order customers who’ve spotted the install file resting on their computers.
If you’re now of the lucky folks granted early access, the new folder will appear within your operating system partition ($windows.~BT).
The site speculates Microsoft has taken the steps to lessen potential strain on the official July 29 release date.
Those who haven’t received the update yet, can reserve their free upgrade by clicking the Windows icon in the task bar.
The company is offering the new operating software free to anyone with a Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 PC, while those on older versions of the software will need to buy it.
The initial roll out comes as the embargo is lifted on Windows 10 reviews. In our TrustedReviews verdict, the all-important operating system received an 8/10 score, dragged down slightly by its tablet experience.
