Windows 10 gets a native Twitter app to bring tweets to Start menu

Early Windows 10 adopters will be able to view tweets directly from the returning Start menu thanks to a new official app.

Twitter has rolled out a sparkly new native app for Windows 10 PCs and tablets, allowing users to jump on board on day one.

The tweets will appear within the live tiles sitting within the Start menu. The social network also says points out the new Twitter for Windows 10 is a Universal Windows Application offering access to top Tweets, photos and videos without requiring a login.

Other highlights include multiple photo tweets (up to 4), animated GIF, Vine playback and photo sharing in Direct Messages.

Twitter will hope its new Windows 10 app can spark some life into the company.

The social network, which hit a 52-week stock low following its earnings call yesterday, continues to struggle with growing its bottom line as well as its user-base.

The firm announced it has 316 million active users, which represents an increase of 308m from the first quarter.
