Will the Moto ‘Cedric’ be the first Motorola phone to run Nougat as standard?
Motorola seems to be working on a new Moto handset that will run Android Nougat out the box.
The device, currently codenamed Moto Cedric, was spotted going through the FCC in the US, and seems to have numerous model numbers, with XT1670, XT1671, XT1675, and XT1676 all listed.
But perhaps most notably, the phone will come with Nougat as standard, making it the only Moto device to run Google’s latest version of its mobile OS out the box.

Motorola has rolled out Nougat updates for other handsets, however, so ‘Cedric’ won’t be the only Moto device with the latest Android OS.
When it comes to specs, the unannounced handset appears to be packing 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, and a 2,800mAh removable battery.
Cedric is also listed as measuring 144mm tall and 72mm wide, which, as PhoneArena points out, suggests a 5-inch display.
Just when the phone will arrive remains unclear, as does whether it will launch in the US or UK at this point.
The phone also looks like it will come in single SIM and dual SIM variants, and seems, based on these specs, similar to the Moto G.
Considering Motorola has reiterated its commitment to its Moto Mods – add-ons for the Moto Z that enhance its functionality – we wouldn’t be surprised to see more modular handsets from the company in the future.
Whether ‘Cedric’ will come with such functionality is unclear, though it seems unlikely at this point. Stay tuned for more in the near future.
