EA has revealed GamePad features for the Wii U version of FIFA 13.
The forthcoming Nintendo console features a touchscreen GamePad controller that adds a second screen element to games. In FIFA 13, a launch title for the console, the GamePad can be used to give the user a player’s eye view of the action, and enables them to take free kicks and penalties by lifting and looking through the GamePad’s screen to aim.
Another feature is “shake and shoot”: shaking the Wii U GamePad brings up a shooting zone, and the user can tap an area to aim their shot precisely. When defending, users can tap on a specific defender to select him, or tap on an attacking opposition player to have the nearest defender mark or tackle him. The GamePad’s touchscreen can also be used for passing.
In cooperative multiplayer, one player can use the GamePad to manage the team while up to four others control the players. Tactics can be changed in real time. Players can be tapped on to reveal statistics.
The screen also features a “Friends Tab”, which shows the user’s friends that are online and player FIFA 13. They can be invited to join the game, or messaged via a touchscreen keyboard.
FIFA 13 and the Wii U will be released on 30th November.
