Wii U GameCube Adaptor

A third-party Wii U GameCube controller adaptor is now available online.

Anyone looking for an alternative to the extremely expensive official Wii U GameCube adaptor may now have found their perfect purchase.

Import site Play-Asia is currently stocking an unofficial GameCube controller adaptor, which is not only compatible with Wii, but also PC and Mac.

It costs $19.99/£13.25 and will be available later this month, as spotted by NintendoLife.

From what we can see, it seems to be a brand new item that hasn’t yet been put to the test by users.

Therefore, we can’t guarantee it will work as advertised. Although, we are comforted by the fact Super Smash Bros for Wii U support is its biggest selling point.

We’re definitely tempted to take a relatively inexpensive punt on the Play-Asia unofficial adaptor, which has a shipping time of between 5 – 15 days.

The official Wii U GameCube controller adaptor retails for £79.99, but stock has been limited since it launched alongside Super Smash Bros on the console last year.

At the time of writing there is 10 in stock on Amazon UK, with the price set at £79.99.

However, over the Christmas period Amazon pricing for the adaptor rose into the hundreds, with some of the top prices spotted reaching £759.

Let us know if you test out the Play-Asia alternative when it goes on sale later this month.

While I cannot believe Nintendo made such an error misjudging the quantity of these adoptors it's worth pointing out that the £79.99 stated in this article is not Amazon but third party sellers who are taking 'supply and demand' to the extreme!.
