The Nintendo Wii Mini will be arriving in the UK on March 22, with the dinky console coming bundled with a red Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk controller.

Sporting a matte black and red design, the little Nintendo Wii Mini console allows Nintendo fans to jump straight into their favourite Wii games, by removing the Wi-Fi connectivity.

Nintendo Wii Mini Features
The striking matte black and red Nintendo Wii Mini offers instant gaming access for Nintendo fans. Stripping back and reducing the size of the original Nintendo Wii console, the compact console limits the range of games available to the user by removing the in-built Wi-Fi connectivity.

Therefore, the Nintendo Wii Mini will not support downloadable content or media streaming. Instead, the Nintendo Wii Mini is being marketed as a more traditional disc based console, still offering access to the over 1,200 disc-based Nintendo Wii titles available, but removing any GameCube game compatibility.

The Nintendo Wii Mini is compatible with the majority of the original Nintendo Wii’s accessories, including the Nintendo Wii Balance Board and Nintendo Wii Wheel for Mario Kart Wii madness.

Following the release of the high-definition, multi-screen packing Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo’s vision for the Nintendo Wii mini seems clear. The new dinky console will be for families new to gaming, wanting a complication free gaming experience, whilst the Nintendo Wii U is aimed at the high-end gamers wanting all the bells and whistles.

To support this mentality, Nintendo has added a selection of new titles to its Nintendo Selects range, designed to offer popular Nintendo games at a budget price. Nintendo Wii Mini owners can now pick up Mario Party 8, Wii Sports Resort, Mario Power Tennis and Super Paper Mario as part of the Nintendo Selects range, joining the current offering of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy and Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City.

There is currently no UK price listed for the Nintendo Wii Mini, but looking at the listed RRP for the American version, the tiny console should retail for somewhere around the £60 mark come March 22.

Do you think the Nintendo Wii mini is a futile addition to Nintendo's console range? What do you think of the Nintendo Wii U as a high-end gaming console? Give us your thoughts at the TrustedReviews Facebook and Twitter feeds or the comment boxes below.
