White Xbox One will not be available to consumers
A white Xbox One console has been pictured online, with the lighter hued next-gen console to be issued for free to select Microsoft employees.
With the white Xbox One having been previously mooted, latest reports have suggested that the varyingly hued console will not be made available to consumers anytime soon. Instead, the white device will be given away for free to those Microsoft employees who worked on the upcoming PS4 rival.
According to claimed insider sources who leaked the details via Reddit,
Entitled the “Xbox One Employee Ship Gift,” the white Xbox One will reportedly come with a raft of additional goodies, with the “Special Edition white [console] unique for our team” to be further bolstered by a year’s complimentary subscription to Xbox Live, all first party Xbox One games, and a special achievement.”
While Microsoft has gained something of a reputation for rewarding its staff with free Windows powered smartphones, tablets and Kinect gaming peripherals, the company has yet to formally confirm the latest white Xbox One themed initiative.
Lining up alongside the white Xbox One console, Microsoft’s full time Interactive Entertainment Business employees will seemingly get their mitts on a white Xbox One controller and a second-generation Kinect peripheral. Strangely, the new Kinect will come in its consumer available black garb.
With the Xbox One release date still very much up in the air, with Microsoft stating only that it will launch its Xbox 360 follow-on in November, the exclusive white Xbox One console has yet to be dated for arrival.
