WhatsApp has included a new feature in its latest app update – ‘mark as unread’.
This means that users can now mark messages as ‘unread’ even if they’ve been opened.
That’s so you can remind yourself to go back to a message if you don’t have time to deal with it immediately.
As such, you won’t be able to read a message, mark it as unread, and trick your friends into thinking it was never opened.
To mark a message as unread, you just need to tap and hold any conversation. That sets the message’s status to ‘green’.
Recipients will still see the read messages with two blue ticks next to them to indicate opening.

Other updates to the app include the ability to mute conversations for eight hours, one week, or one year.
You can now also assign ringtones, vibration lengths, lights and pop-up notifications to a specific conversation.
What’s more, WhatsApp also offers low data-usage options for voice calls.
The company recently announced that its messenger app boasts 800 million monthly active users, and is on track for one billion before the end of 2015.
