What’s the best phone of 2014?

The iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 are just two of the handsets in the running to be crowned Phone of the Year in the 2014 TrustedReviews Awards.

With the likes of the HTC One M8 and the Nokia Lumia 930 also vying for the coveted title alongside the LG G3 and the Sony Xperia Z3, Phone of the Year is shaping up to be one of the most hotly contested crowns at this year’s best in tech celebration.

To help us decide on which smartphone deserves top honours though, we need your help.

“2014 has been chock full of impressive phones making this one of
the toughest categories to vote on,” said Evan Kypreos, Editor of TrustedReviews. “The competition between Android, iOS and Windows Phone is hotting up so vote now to put your case for the phone of the year.

If none of the above handsets have captured your imaginations over the past 12 months, fret not. There are 11 handsets in total contesting the Phone of the Year category.

With some manufacturers having pushed out a number of impressive devices during 2014, Apple, Samsung and Sony all have multiple handsets in contention.

Phablets have becoming an increasingly popular smartphone option for many, both the iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 have pushed the market on this year.

It’s not all about the inches, though. Early in the year, the sub-sized Sony Xperia Z1 Compact wowed us with its high-end specs in a pocketable form factor, earning its spot in the Phone of the Year race.

In what has been something of a breakthrough year for the Chinese manufacturer, Huawei is also represented on the Phone of the Year long list through the hugely impressive Huawei Ascend Mate 7.

Finally, the Google Nexus 6 has been given a wildcard entry to the Phone of the Year long list thanks to its impressive specs sheet and the Nexus line’s past successes.

If you want your say on which is the best phone of 2014, you can cast your votes now. You better act fast though, voting closes on Monday, November 17. Your votes will help whittle down a short list of the best devices before our expert panel select a final winner.

As an added bonus, those who complete the awards voting process have the opportunity to be entered into a prize draw to win £250 worth of Amazon vouchers.
