Cost vs Quality: What matters most when buying new headphones?

Whether your chequebook likes it or not, the holiday shopping season is here, and with shedloads of epic Black Friday UK 2016 deals already rolling in, we take a moment to consider what matters most when purchasing new headphones.

According to new research by Qualcomm's aptX division, consumers are most concerned by sound quality when looking to buy some fresh cans or earbuds.

Drawing on feedback from more than 3,500 respondents, the firm's State of Play 2016 report reveals that audio excellence is the most important factor for 90% of headphone buyers, with over 70% of those polled saying it tops cost considerations when it comes time to hit the shops.

Other findings show that nearly 80% of consumers consider brand compatibility before making a purchase, while some 58% of buyers worry about inferior Bluetooth sound quality.
