What is Elon Musk planning? ‘Unexpected’ Tesla product launching next week

Tesla is launching two new products this month, including something “unexpected” – what ever could it be?

Tesla boss Elon Musk has confirmed that an “unexpected” product will be announced on October 17, followed by a solar roof and battery, which will be announced on October 28. That’s according to a tweet from Musk, which read: “Tesla product unveiling on the 17th (unexpected by most), followed by Tesla/SolarCity on the 28th.”

Unfortunately, it’s not clear what Tesla plans to show off on October 17. The most likely announcement would be something relating to the company’s driverless car efforts – perhaps new software or sensors. It would be surprising if Tesla announced a new car, since the company is currently directing its efforts towards the upcoming Model 3 launch.

Tesla announced the Model 3 in March this year, revealing that initial deliveries of the four-door sedan would begin at the end of 2017. The Model 3 is expected to deliver an all-electric range of 215 miles (346km), and costs $35,000 in the USA. As of May this year, Tesla had taken nearly 375,000 reservations for the car.

There’s a chance that Musk could be announcing new information about the Model 3, ahead of next year’s rollout.
