Westworld Mobile game coming, seemingly minus sex and gory violence

If an hour of Westworld a week hasn’t been enough to contort your mind into a pretzel, don’t worry, there’s a mobile game on the way.

The Apple App Store announced Westworld Mobile is coming soon with a teaser telling gamers “the park is in your hands.”

From Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the game version of the hit HBO show will be released on June 21. The official announcement doesn’t feature any more information on the game, but VentureBeat has the skinny.

Players will control the characters (hosts) in the park, and make choices as to how the attraction will be run. It’ll be up to gamers to train new Delos employees and code the hosts and storylines for the guests to enjoy.

You’ll need to keep the guests happy and that happiness determines how much money you’ll make from them. It’s kind of like Theme Park, but with more shooting and sexing, although it’s unclear how family unfriendly the game will be with an age rating of just 12-and-up.

“You keep the park under control. But are you a good guy or a bad guy?” WB Games studio boss Jonathan Knight told GamesBeat. “Your goal is to be the best Delos employee, designing hosts and scenarios for the guests.”

Far from the gritty, gory look of the TV show, it appears like the mobile game will boast super cartoonish graphics. Just as in the show, players will be unlocking the secrets of the park, alongside keeping visitors happy during their time in the Wild West.

The game has been in development for a couple of years and places players on the timeline of the first season. However, the developers are keen to evolve the game alongside the show, which is likely to run for several more seasons yet.

“There’s a story that unfolds in the objectives,” Knight said. “There’s a story about what is really going on, and a hacker mystery too. We think the show can run for many seasons, and we want to create something that could last for many years to come. We think it can broaden the appeal of the show.”
