WWDC 2018 Live Stream: Watch today’s Apple keynote online

WWDC 2018 Live Stream: Watch today’s Apple WWDC keynote online

Today’s the day, Apple aficionados – WWDC 2018 is finally here, and our guide reveals all the ways you can live stream WWDC and watch the Apple keynote online. Whether you’re using iOS, macOS, tvOS or even Windows, everything you need to know to watch WWDC (or ‘Dub Dub’ to the cool kids) is right here in one handy place.

As is the case with nearly all of its big events, Apple will be offering a free WWDC 2018 live stream, meaning it couldn’t be easier to watch all the action when Tim Cook takes to the stage in California later today.

This year, Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (for that what WWDC stands for) is taking place at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. It runs right up until June 8, but today’s June 4 keynote is when Apple takes the wraps of its latest software products and makes its biggest announcements.

Read on for our full guide to watching this year’s WWDC live stream.

How to watch Apple’s WWDC 2018 live stream

Apple’s WWDC 2018 live stream kicks-off at 6pm BST, which is 10am PT, 1pm ET and 7pm CET.

The keynote event is expected to run for approximately two hours, with the live stream being hosted on the Apple Events website. However, while that’s the only link you need to tune in, there are a few caveats you need to know about if you want to follow all the WWDC action as it happens.

To watch the WWDC keynote on a Mac or iOS device, you’ll need to use Apple’s native Safari browser (bleugh) and be running macOS Sierra 10.12 or higher, while iOS phones and tablets will need to be on iOS 10 or above.

If you’re got older software, you can also try pasting the final Apple Events URL into VLC media player, which can be downloaded here. We’ve had some success with this workaround in the past, but have a backup plan if you’re intent on watching today’s WWDC live stream, as things could change this time round.

This method, which might also work for Linux users, requires you to grab the network URL from Apple Events (linked above), click the top left-hand corner ‘Media’ menu in VLC, and then hit ‘Open Network Stream’, before pasting the address.

You should be able to access it from the 6pm UK start time, but we’ll update this post with the URL you need as soon as the event starts to make life easier.

Those wanting to live stream WWDC 2018 on Windows can do so, provided you’re using Microsoft’s Edge browser, which of course means only Windows 10 devices are capable of tuning into today’s Apple event.

Lastly, Apple TV owners can watch the WWDC keynote, provided their box is 4th-gen or better and they’ve got the Apple Events app installed. Those with older Apple TVs will see ‘Apple Events’ as an option on their device’s home screen.

Those are all of the easiest ways to watch the WWDC 2018 live stream, enjoy the event!

Once installed, open it up and in the top-left corner click Media, then Open Network Stream. You’ll then need to enter the network URL of the stream, which we don’t know just yet.
