Here’s the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens behind-the-scenes trailer

San Diego Comic-Con 2015 is in full swing, and where better to showcase a new Star Wars movie trailer than at the yearly throng of nerd-dom.

It’s not the sort of trailer you’d expect, mind. It’s more of a behind-the-scenes showreel giving a sneak peek into the inner workings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

There are a number of appearances worth keeping an eye out for, including director J.J. Abrams, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and even Simon Pegg in alien get-up.

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens release date is currently pencilled in for 18 December 18 2015, and will land as the seventh entry to the Star Wars cinematic universe.

Walt Disney Pictures also has a further two sequels in the works, so we’ll be chewing through silver-screen Star Wars freshness until at least 2017.

The Force Awakens is set roughly 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and will feature cameos from classic Star Wars characters, as well as new leads John Boyega as Finn and Daisy Ridley as Rey.
