Watch Dogs map leaked in full, compared to GTA 5

The Watch Dogs map has been leaked in full and it pales in comparison to the sheer size and scale of GTA 5.

With less than a week until the Watch Dogs release date on May 27, there were bound to be an increase in leaked content surrounding the game. Watch Dogs map

However, Ubisoft probably weren’t expecting the game’s map to be leaked in its near completion.

The map was constructed in Photoshop by a Reddit user using a leaked video and there are possibly six distinct districts for the Watch Dogs version of Chicago.

The Reddit user has warned that the reproduction and size may not be 100 per cent accurate, but did say that the error margins were around 10 to 20 per cent.

If these diagrams are accurate, Watch Dogs should offer a map with a similar size to GTA 4, but nowhere near the vast landscape of GTA 5 released at the end of 2013.

To help you gauge the size, the user layered the GTA 4 map over the GTA 5 one and then added in the Watch Dogs map in between the two.

The Watch Dogs map is slightly larger than GTA 4, but is more close to that game’s size than GTA 5 as you can see below.

Check out the maps below and let us know what you think of the potential size of Watch Dogs in the comments. We’d love to hear your thoughts.

For an urban area depiction, it is more than big enough..as big as Los Santos in GTA V, and supposedly much more "denser"(accessible indoor spaces) in comparison.

But overall, GTA map wins by a landslide, quite literally.
Open natural areas and scenery are one of the best aspect of GTA V..nothing beats roaming over the mountains with a buggy or a motorcycle.

Also, watchdogs will lack the aerial aspect which is another huge minus in terms of open world gameplay.

gta v map was bigger..but most of it was country side with nothing going on..so the gta v map was kind of a rip off

I think Ubisoft is probably more focused on the fact that the PS3 + Xbox 360 versions of the game hit the Internet early this morning (DLC appears to be on disc and fully unlockable as well, at least for the PS3 version). This normally happens with console releases 1 - 2 weeks before their release date (either by someone where duplications of the disc are being made or someone next in the supply chain). PS4 + Xbox One copy protection hasn't shown any signs of being exploited (at least not publicly) and I hope for the sake of game developers/publishers that it will stay like that for a while. Whenever the PC version hits the open web (which will likely happen in the next 48 hours or so), I think that might actually put a dent in the sales numbers. Thankfully the game has huge pre-order sales already in the bag.

I remember seeing a video on YouTube about a month back, where someone used some very fuzzy math to try and guess the size compared to GTAV and their guess was able double the size of this. I'm happy with this size though, as I think it does a good job of portraying the inner-most metro area of Chicago. lol they could be planning to release a DLC of Lake Michigan (which they could do if it was procedurally-based) just to mess with everyone. I'm honestly more interested in what city(ies) Watch Dogs 2 will take place in (well and excited about playing the actual game).

No, just because you can't use planes doesn't mean its less open world, you dont need planes in every open world game you come across, and no GTA V doesnt win at all, most of it was just a bunch of scenery and even that didnt cover the base of the map. Watch dogs is an actual open world game, jusr because the map is smaller than some game that came out last year doesnt mean anything.

'Similar to the size of GTA 4'

What the hell is he talking about, factor in the land mass shown in WD and it's twice the size of GTA 4!

And as for GTA 5, the desert is a pretty wasted area, especially online, so you can't really say it pales in comparison. The WD city is bigger than Liberty City and Los Santos' city. It's Blaine county that adds the serious mass to GTA 5, yet it's so useless to most people.

Could it be any more obvious that you haven't played GTA V?

I still don't get how map size has anything to do with a game's greatness. Is there a mission to do way up there in GTA 5?(I've played it but only for maybe 6 hours in total)
If there is, all that means to me is travel time to get there and God knows how long to get to where you do the actual mission. Again like I said I've only played GTAV a bit so don't freak out if I'm wrong. The one thing I am noticing is how similar the layout of the map looks to Steelport in SR3 and SR4, with the three parallel islands, anyone else see this? I don't mean they copied or anything like that, just from a first impression kind of viewpoint.
Personally I think it looks great, I think the part where he's being chased by cops and is able to call up those cement things he can drive through on his bike, but the cops just crash, that kind of use of the infrastructure looks like it will be super fun to do .

Oh and another thing.. the whole square of the GTA map is accessible area of course.
The vast depths of sea with full, detailed topography explorable by a submarine or deep diving.
Marine environment takes up additional space almost as big as the terrestrial part.. no other game has anything like it.

I've played GTA V, I've played every single GTA from all Platforms, I know what a open world Game is, Just because you think "GTA V beats Watch dogs." doesn't mean shit, I lost interest in GTA especially since they relaunched it. It's been a growing trend of Shoot everybody and that tends to get boring, and what made this Observation of your's correct? Have you seen my house? have you been in it? How do you know what i Play and Don't play.and I'm going to tell you again Planes and cars don't make and open world game, It's the things you do in the game that makes it completely open world. Now i know what your gonna say "This fucking idiot." Well first of all, even then GTA has always had planes and cars That's to be expected out of GTA but were comparing Two Games that are fucking Polar opposites, Watch Dogs doesn't have A large Map because all the story and characters and diverse game play you're looking for is in the three city's you may not like it but it's true. I'm mostly sick and tired of hearing "Oh watch dogs can't beat GTA V." These two games have nothing in fucking conman Yes they both have guns and cars and all that shit but face it These two stupid ass comparison's are just idiotic, Have you ever thought that maybe GTA V map is so large of all the planes and UFO's and shit like that in the sky? GTA and Watch Dog's Maybe open world Titles but in the end They both will never be Compared to another because they aren't the same thing.
