Virgin Media Wi-Fi app gives iOS users access to 150,000 hotspots
Virgin Media has finally launched the iOS version of its Wi-Fi Buddy app.
The mobile app lets the company’s mobile customers connect to upwards of 150,000 Wi-Fi hotspots across the country.
It’s already available on Android, but customers will now be able to access it on both the iPhone and iPad.
The Wi-Fi spots are found in popular outlets like M&S, WH Smith, Pret A Manger, Superdrug, Wetherspoon pubs, KFC, Wagamama, Pizza Express, and Caffe Nero.
Interestingly, all of these Wi-Fi hotspots are actually owned by Sky, but are offered up to Virgin customers as part of a corporate deal.
22,000 of the hotspots across the country come courtesy of The Cloud, and you can use the Buddy app to find nearby locations on the map. You can also search by postcode or address.
It’s a good way to avoid wasting your data allowances when out and about, and automatic connection means you won’t need to keep re-entering your username and password.
Don’t forget that this app is only available to Virgin’s mobile customers, so you’ll need a Virgin SIM card in your device to access the service.
