ViewSonic Launches ViewPad 10e Tablet

ViewPad 10e

ViewSonic has announced its latest tablet, the ViewPad 10e, aiming it at “value conscious” customers but it has failed to release the pricing for the tablet which goes on sale at the beginning of next month.

The ViewPad 10e’s main selling point is its 9.7in IPS display though with a thickness of just 9.1mm, it should look rather attractive as well. And weighing just 620g it shouldn’t be too much of a burden to carry around.

It will come with a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor and 4GB of internal storage expandable to 32GB via SD card and 512MB of DDR3 RAM - all of which are decent if not amazing specs and tie-in with the budget pricing ViewSonic are hinting at.

As well as the SD card slot, there is a minHDMI port, which will allow you to output 720p videos to a larger screen, a micro USB port, as well as Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 as you would expect.

The ViewPad 10e will run Android 2.3, which is really a smartphone version of Android and we would have liked to have seen either Honeycomb, or ideally Ice Cream Sandwich. ViewSonic has customised the Android interface to create a 3D-style UI called ViewScene 3D.

The ViewPad 10e is the same size as the iPad and has the same screen technology but we hope that it won’t be as expensive as Apple’s market leading tablet.

Does the ViewPad 10e do it for you? Let us know in the comments below.

Finally a tablet manufacturer with the sense to leave out the quite frankly pointless (on a tablet) GPS chip and rear camera. However even with those two cost saving exclusions I still expect this to retail for around £250 - which for a non-iPad tablet is still quite expensive.

At first it looks & feels a lot like and IPad one.
The screen Res & graphics smooth & fast, Apps are what you need to start with, its shipped with Android Ver.2.3, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth
It is easy to set up and go but it will need a bit of tweaking over the weeks to come in general well built & worth the money

The usb cable that they supply mini USB to standard Male USB, so you can connect to a PC via USB.

Just bought viewpad 10e today,it had to be christmas present for my wife. But I found some problems with it. Few specifications do not match real product. As should be 4GB internal memory, but really it is 2GB,microSD has support up to 32GB,my 16GB card can`t read at all, should have few apps to work with android as skype etc. but it doesn`t and even you can`t download it or buy it from android market, bcs this product is not supportet with any apps and Mobilemarket is for fun as well. I downloaded and installed few apps from there, but the are not working properly as well. Only good point of this device is really nice display with 3D view and web browsing working good, thats all. Think I`m ready to return it back to Argos 2morrow. Just wrote it to save your trip back to seller :)

I have a Viewpad 10e. It is an abysmal piece of kit which simply doesn't work. Viewsonic has some new software for it which downloads from their site at appallingly slow speeds - 2 hrs for 210MB. Having installed the zip file on an SD as per their instructions, the home and back keys do not work so you cannot select the software update! If you look at\the manual, the section on E-mail refers to video playback which also doesn't work. THey cannot even get the 3rd rate manul right either. It really is a useless time wasting piece of junk whose only asset is the screen. It's going back to Argos for at the end of this week
