There's a lot of gossip right now with a major Apple event scheduled for that day, but let's just keep calm people.
I’m not a fan of rampant speculation, but when it comes to impending iPods about half the planet demands you go with the flow.
Right now journalist tails are up to such as extent it is positively indecent and what has got them so hot and bothered is 12 October. Under the tantalising banner “One more thing…” Apple has sent out industry-wide invites (well for California, which almost equates to the same thing) to another product launch.
With the stunning nano and dubious ROKR out the way, what could it be? The fifth generation of iPods? The long awaited video iPod? Could they even be the same thing? All pre-event chatter is this will, in fact, be the video iPod time. It certainly makes sense, given the time frame would put devices in shops in time for Chrimbo.
Pushing the envelope even further are “preliminary leaks” about a video iPod. Take with a fist of salt, as always, but rumour suggests it is a device a little more svelte than a 60GB iPod with a small nano-sized click wheel to one side, allowing for the incorporation of a much larger widescreen display.
For a bit of fun (and a highly unlikely world scoop!) here is supposedly the world’s first shot of the video iPod. Dark, hazed, and not unlike pieces of starry-eyed fan-art we’ve seen in the past, it still looks stunning. Is it safe to start dreaming? Probably not for another week…
There’s one for 12 October in London now too (does the invite look familiar…?)
Keep tuned in readers.
