Video: Check out the new hoverboard flight world record
Sci-fi fantasy has just become reality as the hoverboard – that iconic bastion of future technology – has taken to the skies.
Stepping out from the film reels of Back to the Future, hoverboard development has lifted off, with one Canadian maverick even using the futuristic transportation device to set a new Guinness World Record.
Piloting his prototype hoverboard over a lake in Quebec, Catalin Alexandru Duru flew the propeller-equipped device for a distance of 905 feet (276 metres).
Fortunately, his antics were caught on camera for our envy-inducing enjoyment.

So, hoverboards are real, but why did Duru make one?
“I will showcase that stable flight can be achieved with a machine one can stand on and control with their feet,” he explained.
