Vertu Ti announced with mid-range specs for high-end price tag

The Vertu Ti has been officially unveiled as the post-Nokia debut Vertu Android handset, sporting a minimum price tag of a breath taking £6,700.

Despite the rather ostentatious cost, the luxury handset may leave users wanting in the tech department, as the Vertu Ti doesn’t even offer top end specs, hosting the now rather dated Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

Comparing the Vertu Ti to the market leading Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3, the Vertu Ti seems to offer little worth the staggering price, aside from the Vertu Key Concierge services.

Vertu Ti Features
The Vertu Ti features a 3.7-inch WVGA display powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. With an 8-megapixel camera in the rear for 1080p HD video capturing and 1.3-megapixels in the front, the Vertu Ti lines up well against the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3, but will fall very much short of the rumoured spec for upcoming flagship Samsung Galaxy S4.

The Vertu Ti weighs in at 180g, heavier than Samsung and Apple rivals, despite the lightweight titanium, ceramic and leather body that is designed to make the luxury handset stand out from any competitors and provide increased strength.

Featuring a sapphire crystal screen for increased durability and scratch resistance, the Vertu Ti boasts Bang and Olufsen tuned audio technology within its handmade body.

Running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Vertu Ti fails to keep pace with the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS seen in the Google Nexus 4 and Google Nexus 10.

The crucial feature for potential Vertu Ti owners is the all new Vertu Key, which provides instant access to the curated world of benefits and services offered by Vertu. The “ruby inset” Vertu Key is the upgraded Concierge service offered by Vertu’s Symbian phone and offers independently sourced privileges at the touch of a button.

The Vertu Key’s Life tab offers personalised recommendations of articles, events and places to visit, and the Concierge tab provides expert assistance 24 hours a day. The Vertu Certainty system ensures the safety of the Vertu Ti, its data and its user.

Vertu Ti Price and Release Date
The basic titanium black leather option will sport a Vertu Ti price of £6,700 or customers can opt for the titanium pure black for £7,900. With the polished 18 carat red gold version reporting to cost £13,900, none of the handsets have price tags for the average consumer. There is also an alligator skin version for the discernibly fashion conscious.

Available now, the Vertu Ti can be purchased from the Vertu website or one of Vertu’s selected boutiques.
