Updated HTC One M8 teased for October 8 event

HTC has posted another hint it will announce an updated version of the critically-acclaimed HTC One M8 smartphone at its event on October 8.

On Monday the company posted a teaser, in the form of a video GIF file on Twitter, which shows various flickering shots of a device from different angles.

Recent reports have suggested the firm will release an updated model called the HTC One M8 Eye, which will feature an enhanced 13-megapixel camera sensor, but will otherwise be exactly the same as the original.

Given the event has been dubbed “Double Exposure,” the camera improvements would fit in with the narrative HTC has created ahead of the launch.

Other rumours have pointed to an announcement related to the rumoured HTC One M8 Max phablet, a larger version of the flagship device. The video does appear to show a larger device, but that could just be the different angles playing a trick on the eye.

It is possible that either device is being represented within the Twitter teaser that states: “Don’t adjust your screen. Just focus on the date.” The video bears the October 8 date.

The firm is also expected to reveal the RECamera action camera at the event, while the Nexus 9 tablet could also make an appearance at the launch.
