Unfinished Left 4 Dead campaign released by original developer
Turtle Rock Studios has released the final campaign for Left 4 Dead, and you can play it right now on PC.
The unfinished campaign, titled ‘Dam it’, is the “last Left4Dead campaign that was never finished, along with a couple survival maps that never shipped. Dam It stitches Dead Air and Blood Harvest together.”
It appears this mission was being worked on prior to Valve taking over the zombie shooter, meaning it never saw the light of day back in 2008.

Keep in mind that the campaign is very unfinished, and is missing a few key components. That being said, it is playable from beginning to end without any problems.
Some of the features and graphical additions missing from the build can be found below:
- Fire, smoke and explosions do not trigger panic events in the hangars.
- Zombies do not crawl all the time in the orchard.
- Farm house mob does not spawn in the far side of the woods.
- Covered bridge does not collapse with explosions.
- Burned forest area is missing wandering fires.

Turtle Rock Studios recently announced it will cease developing updates for Evolve, and will not be bringing F2P versions to consoles in the coming months.
The sudden emergence of a new Left 4 Dead campaign could be a consequence of this, with the studio dusting off old code as it prototypes new projects.
This is all speculation on our part, but it’s cool to see an eight year old game receive such a sudden and substantial update.
With any luck, we’ll see an announcement for Left 4 Dead 3 in the near future.
