The most anticipated PS4 game of 2016, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, has been delayed five weeks, pushing the release date to late April.
The final installment of the Nathan Drake saga was scheduled to launch on March 18 next year, but it’ll now arrive on April 26 in the US and April 29 in the UK. Europeans will have access to the game on April 27.
The reason for the delay is to give the creative director and his team at Naughty Dog more time to shine up the game.
In a post on the PlayStation blog Neil Druckmann wrote: “As we approached our final deadlines and started wrapping up the game’s levels, we realized that several key sequences needed extra resources to bring them to the finish line.
“Pushing the date is not an easy choice, and we wouldn’t do it if we didn’t feel in our hearts it’s the best course of action for the game. To you, our loyal fans, we hope you’ll accept our sincere apology. We know many of you have been waiting patiently for Nathan Drake’s final chapter, and now we humbly ask you to wait a bit longer.”
The delay means gamers will at least have more time to enjoy Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, which features the first three games in the series, remastered for the PS4.
Developer Naughty Dog believes 80 per cent of PS4 owners have never played an Uncharted game, so if folks pick up the collection for Christmas, they’ll have a full four months to get up to speed.
