Since Twitter first launched, the world has been used to a Twitter feed organised in reverse chronological order.
Now, following months of testing, the website has announced changes to the timeline which will see tweets organised by quality.
The idea is that you get to see the 'best tweets', i.e. those from people you interact with more and which are the most popular, when you log in.

Users can opt-in to the new service by going to their Twitter settings and clicking on 'show me the best tweets first'.
The most popular tweets will then appear at the top of your timeline in reverse chronological order.
Your usual, reverse chronological timeline, will then be displayed below the most popular posts.
The company says it plans to make the new timeline standard for all users in the coming weeks, but you should be able to turn it on manually as of today.

Once the blanket change happens, you will be notified by a message in your Twitter feed, but you'll still have the option to turn it off in the settings.
The changes will be made across all Twitter platforms including iOS, Android, and the web version of the site.
There's more information available in the company's blog post which details the new feature.
