Garmin took everything up a notch when it launched the Forerunner 610 in the summer of 2011.
The 1in resistive LCD touch screen is surprisingly responsive and the menus are more user friendly than its predecessor, the Garmin Forerunner 410, leaving you free to focus on your training. GPS watches are still too large and look like mountaineering kit, but the function-to-form ratio is levelling off and the Forerunner 610 is the most sophisticated sport watch on the market.
When you work for a technology title, especially one as esteemed as TrustedReviews, people expect you to have everything.
"What?!? You don't use your Slingbox to stream Lovefilm using a mi-fi network and a pico projector so you can watch movies on the wall of the tube station on your way to work?"
"What?!? You don't have every piece of media you've ever created digitised and on a NAS?"
"Oh. My. God. Is that a USB drive?"
Actually yes, I still find them quite useful.
I'm as teched-up as the next man, but I lack surround sound, which means I'm listening to my television through its actual speakers. I know.
But since laying a rug which runs, rather conveniently, from my rig to my sofa, I'd like to experience TV the way it was intended – with the marvels of surround sound, and the impressive yet affordable Jamo A 101 HCS 5s would be just the ticket.
Ebay without the Ebayers
I believe it was Jean Paul Satre, who said: "Hell is other people's tat", but the transition phase of unwanted items is a purgatory like no other. No matter what conditions and terms you put on an item for sale, there will always be a steady stream of questions from someone asking about something you've already addressed.
Q: Hi, I'm looking at your item. Can I buy it now?
A: No, it's an auction. I have not included a Buy It Now price.
Q: I understand what you're saying, but what is the price for you to need for the close of Ebaying?
Q: Can I send a courier?
A: No, it's Collect In Person. Sorry.
Q: I understand what you are saying, but I work in the day. Can you let me know if they can collect AM or PM?
A: I can't stay in for you to collect.
Q: Can you take it to where you work so they can collect from there?
A: I can't take an armchair on the train, no.
Q: That's a shame. The armchair would be perfect for my wife's 60th birthday. Is it worth me bidding at all?
A: I don't think so.
Mobile devices and Ebay apps ensure we are in constant touch with these people who can leave us negative feedback if we don't answer politely and straight away. Even if only three per cent of people are hell, Ebay's size and success means that every sale will guarantee that for me at least, charity shops are: "A1 would recommend. Excellent :)"
