Fresh laptops ready for the summer, if it ever arrives.
Toshiba’s Satellite laptops have been a little disappointing of late, so it will no doubt be hoping its refreshed line-up can bring a little sparkle. With some non-too-shabby specs and such features as multi-touch touchpads, the U500, A500, L500 and L550 might just manage it.
The multimedia-orientated A500 offers a 16in display with a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution, an AMD Turion or Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 8GB of RAM a 500GB hard drive and ATI integrated graphics. A slot-loading DVD drive, DVB-T tuner and Harmon Kardon speakers purport to offer decent multimedia capability.
The U500 is a more portable affair, following the U400 and featuring a 13.3in, 1,280 x 800 pixel screen, a Core 2 Duo CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive and AMD ATI Radeon Mobility 4570 graphics. Batter life is quoted at a 215 minutes, which isn’t spectacular but isn’t terrible either.
There’s hardly any information about the L500 and L550 other than that they’ll have 15.6 and 17.3 in displays respectively, with the latter having an “HD” resolution. Both will offer either Intel or AMD processors.
