Record the family in disconcerting detail this summer.
HD camcorders used to be the stuff of production companies and those with particularly fat wallets but, as ever, this tech has eventually filtered down to the masses and Toshiba has the best example of this to date…
The ‘Camileo H10’ is a portable 720p capable (1280 x 720) model which weighs just 340g. It boasts 5x optical and 4x (s)pointless(/s) digital zoom and records all footage in H.264/Mpeg4 to SDHC cards (8GB max) plugged into its expansion shot. As you might expect for a budget model integrated storage is limited at best with just 64MB onboard but with compression squashing 30 minutes of 720p footage into each gigabyte your SD cards should hold up pretty well.
Elsewhere the H10 also impresses with a 10 megapixel CCD image sensor and large 2.7in LCD display. An HDMI output also means footage can be streamed directly to any HD Ready TV minimising fuss and cables.
We’re not finished there either. The H10 has the ability to also snap stills, comes with a night mode for low light filming, a ‘Special Effects’ feature which offers black & white, normal, classic and negative shooting and even monitor detection capabilities so it certainly represents a tempting package.
At just £179.99 that temptation should increase too and with a release planned before the end of the week those of you with holidays on the horizon may have just found the ideal last minute accessory…
