TomTom has announced the release of two new satnavs in the Start 20 Series which include two million extra kilometres of road, larger screens and a new operating system.
The Start 20 Series comes in two sizes the Start 20 and the Start 25 which boast 4.3in and 5in screens respectively. Both models feature a built-in orientation sensor, which, coupled with the integrated flip-screen mount, lets drivers mount the devices on the dashboard, automatically rotating the screen 180 degrees. Though this does necessitate the additional of a dashboard-mounting disk. Looking at the software of the Start 20 range, TomTom has added two million extra kilometres of roads to the maps including roads in rural areas, enhancing graphics for built-up areas, water features and forests. There are also twice as many Points of Interest which now include a lot more information including phone numbers and opening hours – which will be particularly helpful when you’re looking for a late night pub in rural Belgium.
"New satnav users can benefit from enhanced safety and comfort, all wrapped up in a very stylish, easy-to-use package," says Corinne Vigreux, Managing Director Consumer at TomTom. "No other satnav provider offers such good looks and intelligent features in a range that is predominantly aimed at first-time buyers." While the Start 20 series doesn’t pack as many features as its high-end Go Live series, the models are an improvement on the budget Start2 model.
The Start 20 will be available with UK and Ireland maps for £129.99 or with Europe maps for £149.99. The larger Start 25 will be available for £169.99 with European maps and all models will be available in the coming week from usual stockists.
