As technology becomes ever more portable, one problem we have is being able to keep all these devices charged. To that end, TomTom has released an in-car charger that allows up to three devices to be charged at once.
The TomTom High-Speed Multi-Charger claims to be able to charge devices up to four times faster than other chargers on the market via one of its USB ports. The charger comes with two USB ports, one of which is a 2.1 amp port used for “fast charge” while the other is a 1.2 amp port used for standard charging. With smartphone battery life a constant source of frustration for users, the fast charge port will come in very handy for those spending a lot of time on the road. As well as the two USB ports, the charger has a dedicated 12V port for devices such as DVD players – which on long journeys with children in the back of the car, could be a life saver.
TomTom claims that all devices will receive full power simultaneously while competitor chargers split the 2.1 amp power between the different ports. The device is not exactly pretty, despite TomTom calling it “sleek, small and boasting TomTom's award-winning design” in its press release. But if it does what it claims, then it could be a vital addition to the growing amount of technology you carry around with you. The device is available now from TomTom for £19.99, which won’t break the bank and could be a valuable tool to have in your glovebox.
