Tivoli has revealed a range of new Bluetooth products, to bring its radios somewhat closer to the cutting edge.  For existing owners of Tivoli radios, the company has also made a Bluetooth receiver and internet radio smartphone app.

Tivoli is known for producing old-school, high-end analogue radios. And now it has updated a number of them with Bluetooth connectivity, to make using them with new-fangled devices like smartphones and tablets much easier.

The pick of the bunch is the Tivoli PAL BT, a wireless version of the company's classic upright design AM/FM radio. It features a 2.5in full-range driver and an internal battery for up to 15 hours of adapter-free listening.

It'll come in five finishes - black, white, blue, yellow and red. Putting it side-to-side with its competitors, the missing features are obvious - no DAB, no internet radio and no high-quality Bluetooth aptX codec (BT version 2.1 EDR is used here) - but the design remains charming. The Tivoli PAL BT will sell for £239.99 in the UK.
Tivoli Model One
The more traditional-design version of the PAL is the Tivoli Model One BT. In a similar vein, it takes the original Model One and shoves Bluetooth in. The same limitations remain, but here a larger 3in driver is used in place of the 2.5in one. It'll cost £199.99.

Tivoli has attempted to mitigate for the lack of built-in internet radio with the Tivoli Radio app, available for iPhone and just released for Android. Its approach is a little different to other internet radio apps, offering just 100 specially picked stations (rather than thousands) and an interface inspired by Tivoli radio design.

If you're an existing Tivoli radio owner and want to get wireless, Tivoli has also just launched the BluCon. This is a Bluetooth receiver that plugs into any audio device with a 3.5mm audio input. However, its wood-clad design is intended to match Tivoli radios like the Model One.

These new Tivoli radios are due on shelves this September.
