Titanfall new co-op mode lets you play against AI

Respawn has announced the biggest Titanfall update, complete with a new co-op mode that lets you play against the AI.

Touted as the “biggest update ever”, Respawn might just be right as there’s a host of new features inbound for Titanfall alongside the new co-op mode.

The new cooperative game mode is called Frontier Defence and follows a similar structure to the Horde Mode of Gears of War 2.

Teams of four players must join together in Frontier Defence to take on increasingly powerful waves of AI enemies.

“You and your team will face down familiar foes as well as the IMC’s newest combat unites: hordes of Grunt and Spectres, stealthy Sniper Spectres and Cloak Drones, explosive Suicide Spectres and Nuclear Titans, ranged Mortar Titans and even melee-resistant Arc Titans,” explained Respawn.

You’ll need to use the environment to your advantage, by earning and deploying stationary turrets that you can place around the arena. There are new loadout crates located near the level objective that let you switch your weapon loadout at will, while refilling ammo simultaneously.

Anyone who falls during the fight will be flown straight back in via a dropship that continuously circles above the action. As you come back in, you can even shoot from the side window on approach to take out some enemies for your buddies.

Along with numerous other new features, Respawn is also introduced Ranked Play into Titanfall. This new feature will allow you to “work your way through an increasingly challenging set of Tiers by out-performing other Pilots in battle”.

It isn’t a special mode though, instead it is incorporated directly into standard competitive matches.

Initially this Ranked Play will launch in beta form throughout the whole of November. All Gen 10 players will receive access to the beta, who can invite other players to join if they wish. Gen 10 players gets five invites and then a further three invites per day.

After the beta, Ranked Play will be open to all players level 32 or higher.
