Tim Cook: iPad Pro users will ditch everything but their iPhone

iPad Pro 15

Apple CEO Tim Cook says the new iPad Pro will replace the desktop or laptop PC for many users.

In an interview with the Telegraph ahead of the 12.9-inch slate going on sale this week, Cook said the device will convince users they don’t need anything else.

“I think if you’re looking at a PC, why would you buy a PC anymore? No really, why would you buy one?” Cook bullishly said.

“Yes, the iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. They'll start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones.”

The iPad Pro is unquestionably more PC-like than any touchscreen device Apple has made before. This is down to the bigger screen, the Smart Keyboard case accessory and the Apple Pencil.

However, with the iPad Pro only running iOS 9, rather than Mac OS X, some folks may still require a fully fledged operating system to run desktop-style apps.

However, should Cook’s largest assault on the PC industry yet come a cropper, the Apple CEO has another sector in his sights; he’s going for the humble sketch pad too.

“If you sketch, it’s unbelievable…you don’t want to use a pad anymore," Cook says.

The iPad Pro goes up for pre-orders tomorrow from £679. It will be available in stores by the end of the week.

Dunno what's worse, his arrogance or lack of knowledge. When it comes to real productivity, that things a Fisher Price toy compared to a Surface Pro 4. Dream on Tim ;-)))

So, it's a tablet that will replace your laptop. Where have I heard that before?

Jeez, has he ever heard of the phrase "talk is cheap"? It's clear he has a severe superiority complex if he has to arrogantly (as someone already said) beat it into everyones' heads with constant bragging and boasting as well as openly attacking every other products from other companies. Just let your product do the talking and sell itself, while we judge with our wallets.

It is obvious that the entire Apple executive staff has such a severe case of Narcissistic personality disorder that their statements to even their dystopic followers are full of deceit.
This comment about an overpriced iPad taking the place of PCs is statutory rape of the truth.
Try running 2 data intensive programs at the same time and you'll reach retirement before your task is complete.
Their pencil is a joke and evaluations show your finger to be a better pointing device than their scarred pencil.
They talk about Metal in their graphics and want you to believe that a total of 4GB of "system" ram is adequate.
12.9" screen for 4k editing. "LOL"
iOS with Inability to run both enterprise and personal production programs.
Not to draw this out, but 24/7 hype will not turn this into a real PC, but will further show the successful con that fills Apples overseas tax shelters.

Comparing the iPad Pro to a quality laptop is like comparing ball bearings on a string to the Hadron collider.

If they were serious about this replacing your desktop PC or laptop, they'd offer more storage than 128GB. All my music is on my desktop and that alone far exceeds 128GB.
That doesn't even take into account everything else we keep on our desktops and laptops.
Frankly, the iPad Pro is simply to closed architecture to ever fully replace a desktop or laptop.

I'm beginning to think Tim Cook is kind of an idiot.

It's not really an excuse though; people like him, David Cage, and Jony Ive who has to so far as to brag, boast, making juvenile claims like "why would you buy a PC anymore?" and openly attack others in such an unprofessional manner, deserves to be knocked down a few pegs.
