Tim Cook hits out at ‘deluded’ Microsoft Surface Book as iPad Pro lands

iPad Pro

Apple CEO Tim Cook is continuing his iPad Pro charm offensive in Europe, but this time he’s doing his utmost to offend Microsoft’s Surface Book.

Speaking in front of Trinity College students in Dublin, Cook called Microsoft’s hybrid device “deluded” and accused it of “trying to do too much,” according to the Irish Independent reporter on the scene.

The comments are very interesting given Cook’s remarks earlier this week, in which he claimed iPad Pro users will "no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones."

Cook also believes his new tablet will replace the humble sketchbook thanks to the £79 Apple Pencil.

Whether the iPad Pro is ‘trying to do too much’ to assist drastically sinking sales for Apple’s tablet range is something that’ll be considered by reviewers around the world.

Meanwhile, the accusation of delusion could easily be aimed at Cook if his view the iPad Pro will return the tablet sector to growth doesn’t come to fruition.

"I believe the iPad will return to growth. I'm very bullish on the iPad,” he told the students.

The iPad Pro is up for pre-order today from £679 for the 32GB model. It’ll be available in Apple Stores before the end of the week.

The Microsoft Surface Book, a stylish Windows 10 hybrid device with a MacBook challenging design, a detachable display and twice the processing power of a MacBook Pro recently went on sale.

Elsewhere during his visit to the Emerald Isle, Cook said he hopes Apple Pay will roll out in Ireland soon.

He also said the company’s European HQ in Cork will be expanding its workforce by 1,000 in the next year.

Currently Apple employs 5,000 people in Ireland, but there had been fears the company would seek to duck out of the country given the tightening of tax laws.

Haha Hilarious. I'll have a pint of what Tim's been drinking. He is obviously in another dimension detached from reality. iPad Pro = Etch-a-sketch compared to Surface. :D

The iPad Pro gets smoked by both the Surface Pro and the Surface Book. Unless users really want a giantiPad they're probably going to be a lot better off with MS.

So the iPad Pro will replace every device except a phone but it's the Surface Book that's trying to do too much. Sorry Tim, you're making no sense.

Little warning though; the Surface Book has some software issues at present. A recent update sorted a lot of them but some remain. The hardware seems fantastic but if you're thinking of buying one it may be wise to wait for another update or two.
