There’s very good reason to adopt Android Pay this Christmas

Google has announced a festive promotion designed to encourage Android Pay usage.

From now until the end of the year, Android Pay users will receive a virtual Christmas cracker every time they tap to pay.

Within these crackers could be £10 Costa coffee gift cards, free Odeon Cinemas tickets, or, if you land the mother lode, £500 gift cards for House of Fraser and Curry’s PC World.

The crackers will appear each time Android Pay is used in stores or on the tube. Even if you don’t strike it lucky, for every five crackers you pull you’ll get a free £3 Costa gift card.

That should go most of the way towards a winter warmer while out shopping.

Beyond the dose of festive cheer, Google is also introducing some new Android Pay features in the UK.

If using it on a Transport for London service, Android Pay will notify you if you have an incomplete journey on the following day. This is handy if you forget to tap in or out and need to request a refund. There’s also a daily travel summary feature.

Finally, Uber users can now pay for their rides using the newly integrated Android Pay button. As an added bonus, Android Pay users will get 50% off their next ten rides, starting later this week.
