The YotaPhone 2 US release has just been cancelled

Yota Devices has revealed that its plans to release the YotaPhone 2 in the USA have now been cancelled.

“The reason for our cancelled launch is due to unforeseen delays including both production and delivery of the North American variant of YotaPhone 2 from our manufacturer,” an e-mail sent to backers reads, as reported by The Verge.

It continues: “The logistics were insurmountable and the device would simply arrive too late.”

The Russian company reportedly claims that delays in delivering the YotaPhone across the US would conflict with plans for 2016 releases.

This would mean that Indiegogo backers would be waiting for their devices, while other regions would be getting newer models.

If you backed the Indiegogo campaign – which only launched earlier this month – then Yota Devices is offering you two options.

Your first option is to receive an international version of the phone.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t have LTE support for the US, so you’ll only get HSPA+ service on T-Mobile and AT&T.

The second is to request a refund, although it’s reported that Yota Devices has not yet worked out how the refund will be delivered.

The Indiegogo campaign, which required a minimum $500 investment to receive a phone, managed to rack up an impressive $300,000 before it closed on July 26.

The YotaPhone 2 launched in the UK back in December, featuring a 5-inch Full HD display and a Snapdragon 800 chip.

What’s special about the YotaPhone 2 is that it also features a second screen on the rear – a 4.7-inch 960 x 540 pixel e-ink display.
