The Witcher 3 second playable character revealed

CD Projekt Red has revealed the second playable character in The Witcher 3 ahead of its release next year.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s second playable character is Ciri, CD Projekt Red has confirmed.

However, although you will be playing at Ciri at key moments in the plot, you won’t actually be able to switch between the characters at will.

You will play the majority of the game as Geralt, so the focus isn’t on

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the portions of the storyline where you play as Ciri will be very significant to the overall story arch.

Ciri is an ashen-haired girl with long lost elven blood lineage and you can see her star in the latest The Witcher 3 trailer entitled “Elder Blood” below.

“We introduce Ciri as supportive narrative tool and not because of gameplay mechanics. The Witcher was always about Geralt and that has not changed, but that handful of moments when you play as Ciri provide us with glimpses of how the story feels from the other side,” said CD Projekt Red.

“She’s a living weapon… and everyone wants to control her. This, plus she also has her own will and agenda, so it’s not just finding her that counts. I think that is the most important aspect of this character. Geralt knows Ciri since she was a child. She’s Geralt’s apprentice and they have a close emotional bond – he trained her so she could become a witcheress.”

CD Projekt Red announced earlier this month that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been delayed from February to May 19, 2015.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
