Are you tired of getting up to turn the lights on and off? And let's face it, a clapper is a bit 1980s. What you need is The LightBox.
It's a wooden block that can control your lights. Stand it on its end, and the lights turn on. Lay it on its side, and they switch off. And that's it. There are no switches or buttons, and you can place it anywhere in the room, so you don't need to move off the sofa.
Anyway, enough about that. What we're really interested in is the gun lamp in the picture above. Where did that come from?
Ahem. The LightBox can control as many lights as you want, so you can illuminate your whole room or just put on some mood lighting. Sync it with multiple lights, and they'll all come on as you stand the block on its end.
It doesn't connect over Wi-Fi. Instead, you place one of the receivers into your plug socket, and plug your lamp into that. Although there's no mention of it, theoretically it could also control your TV, set-top box and games console as well – if they're all plugged into said receivers.
One set of three AA batteries will keep it going for more than a year with normal use.
It's just gone live on Kickstarter and has raised more than $6,000 of a $65,000 goal. If successful, it'll cost $58 (£38) with an early bird discount and ship in May.
