The Last of Us tops UK All Format Gaming Chart for fifth week

The Last of Us has topped the UK all Format Gaming Chart for another week, taking its reign to a 2013 record-breaking five weeks.

The Naughty Dog title has retained its position at the top of the UK All Format Gaming Chart for the fifth consecutive week, holding out against new contenders like the recently released Mario and Luigi title.

If The Last of Us manages to stick it out for six weeks at the top of the chart, then it will equal the currently unbroken record held between Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and FIFA 12.

Currently, the Last of Us is the fastest selling PS3 game ever and is the fast selling new software title in the whole of the console’s history, selling over 3.4 million copies in the first three weeks of its release.

In the UK All Format Gaming Chart for the week ending July 13, The Last of Us was followed by Nintendo title, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, up from fourth in second place.

At number three is a new entry, Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros, which knocked FIFA 13 down to fourth place and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition was pushed from third to fifth this week.

Up from tenth place to seventh though is Far Cry 3, following discount pricing promotions, especially on Xbox Live. Ubisoft’s other title in the top ten, Assassin’s Creed 3, drops from fifth to eighth.

Staying solid at number seven is Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, while at number nine is previous chart leader Tomb Raider, having dropped three places from number 6 last week.

A surprise re-entry into the top ten this week is Aliens: Colonial Marines, rising from number 22 to tenth place.  This is due to new budget pricing rather than its success. We only gave it four out of ten in our review due to poor graphics, mediocre FPS gameplay and its abundance of bugs and glitches.
