The Galaxy Note 7 is finally about to launch – and this is your first real look at it

Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Note 7 at a special launch event later today, after months of leaks, rumours, and the odd bit of actual news. Yep, the big reveal is upon us – and we’ve finally got our first real look at the new Android phablet to whet the appetite.

At approximately 4pm BST (11am EST) Samsung will take the wraps off its latest flagship Android phablet, the Galaxy Note 7.

By now, we know pretty much what we’re going to get from the Note 7. We’ve mulled over countless leaked spec sheets, and feasted our eyes on even more leaked images. These may or may or not turn out to be accurate – we’ll know in a few hours – but as the countdown inches closer and closer to zero, we have a genuine peek at the new device.

The first Galaxy Note 7 images come to us from renowned mobile leaker @OnLeaks and are the official press renders of the device – in other words, the snaps that are going to to be front and centre in the window of your local Carphone Warehouse for the foreseeable future.

Pretty snazzy, huh? Except, they are still just renders, albeit Samsung’s own ones. What are you actually going to have your paws on, should you stump up and buy the Galaxy Note 7?

Well, when you first leave the store, you’re going to be carrying (and itching to open) a box that will look like (or a lot like) this:

These photos come to us via Dutch blog TechTastic and could have seemed a bit dodgy, were it still early doors for the Note 7. But landing today as they do we’d posit that they’re the real deal, especially as they carry the branding of leading South Korean mobile network SK telecom and reflect some of the specs we’re expecting to see.

That’s probably your final taste of the Note 7 before it’s actually unveiled, but fear not – we’ll be at Samsung’s exclusive London launch event today bringing you all the latest news, photos, and early hands-on impressions.
