Blackberry is said to be readying two new Android handsets for release this year, and it looks like we’ve just had the inaugural leak for one of them.
The two handsets have thus far been known by their codenames Hamburg and Rome, but this leak, courtesy of Twitter user @the_malignant, suggests the former could actually be called the Blackberry Neon.
An image purporting to show the back of the upcoming handset was also posted alongside the new naming information.

It has previously been reported, following Blackberry’s suspected partnership with TCL, that the Hamburg/Neon smartphone will actually be a rebranded Alcatel Idol 4.
And the new image certainly seems to confirm that, with a very similar rear camera setup and metallic strips on the top and bottom of the device.
It should be said that none of this has been verified by Blackberry at this point, and the image could still very well be a simple Photoshop job.
On Twitter, @the_malignant also revealed, in response to a comment, that the upcoming handset will be ‘partially’ made of aluminium, which is also true of the Idol 4.

Other specs listed include a 12MP rear camera, 7MP front-facing shooter, and 16GB of internal storage, which puts Blackberry’s rumoured handset firmly in Idol 4 territory.
We’re yet to hear anything from Blackberry on the legitimacy of the image or the existence of the handset itself, but it certainly seems as if we’ll hear something soon.
