Spotify has a plan to make your out-of-office reply less boring

Are you one of those who people spend their entire last day at work trying to concoct entertaining out-of-office replies? Then Spotify has a new feature just for you.

Spotify OOO, which launched on Thursday, will allow subscribers to create playlists inspired by their destination.

Users need to choose a location, enter their work email, choose whether it’s a business or pleasure trip and then set a mood somewhere between Relaxation, Adventure and Party.

When the playlist is complete, users can then create the custom out-of-office message with the playlist attached.

It can then be copied into the OOO within your email client.

The idea seems to be based around Spotify’s desire to promote the increased streaming activity during the summer months.

It says listening peaks at 250 steams a month during July, a record sure to be smashed this summer given the firm is now up to 30 million paying subscribers and 100m active users overall.

While the feature might be interesting for users jetting off to Miami for a fortnight in South Beach, we’re not sure what Spotify will come up with for a two-day conference in Crewe.
