Thailand has officially approved the sale of not one but two iPhone 6 models.
Perhaps the biggest lingering question over the imminent iPhone 6 release is: how many versions will launch?
We’re pretty sure that the main model will be a 4.7-inch smartphone, and that a larger and possibly more advanced 5.5-inch model is also in the works. But will they launch at the same (likely) September event?
Various rumours and reports suggest that they will, and a bizarre confirmation from Thailand only adds weight to the suggestion.
Yes, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, Thailand’s telecommunications regulatory body, has approved the sale of two new iPhone models – A1524 and A1586, if you were wondering. Amusingly, Thailand’s Secretary General took to Twitter to confirm this fact.
And yes, Thailand does currently sell both the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, so this isn’t some belated launch of last year’s smartphone range.
As noted by 9to5Mac, one or both of these models could represent tweaked versions of the above 4-inch phones, with different internal cellular technology. Or, it could mean that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 base model will come in two different network variations in this country.
We prefer to think of it as more confirmation that Apple will launch two different large iPhone 6 models next month. We’re optimists like that.
While no invites have been sent out, multiple reputable sources have claimed that Apple will launch the iPhone 6 on September 9.
