We’ve known for months Tesla plans to introduce its more affordable Model 3 sedan at an event in March, but reports today suggest the company has a surprise up its sleeve.

Electrek reports Elon Musk’s firm will show off at least two versions of the Model 3 during the yet-to-be-scheduled showcase.

According to the article, that second car is likely be the Model Y crossover strongly hinted at by Elon Musk in October last year.

Thursday’s report is supported by a photo from a presentation in Hong Kong, showing two cars under wraps, lending credence to the thought a second model could be on the way.

Beyond the $35,000 price tag and the 200-mile range Tesla explained little about the Model 3, much less about the Model Y.

However, it has been suggested the company build them both on the same platform as it had done previously with the Model S sedan and Model X SUV.

The Electrek report also believes the Model 3/Y will feature the same iPad-like centre console and boast the cabin site of a BMW 3 series.

It also claims the company will look to cut costs by charging drivers for supercharging costs, which have been free for Models S and X.

The next-generation of Tesla vehicles will be the first to sit within the price range of mainstream drivers.

With the Chevy Bolt announced at CES 2016 and slapped with a similar price tag, the Model 3/Y will face some serious competition.
