Tesla Model S slapped with ‘worse than average’ reliability rating
The cavalcade of positive press surrounding Tesla’s electric cars ground to a sudden halt on Tuesday, with questions now being posed about the reliability of the flagship Model S.
The influential Consumer Reports website has pulled its Holy Grail-like ‘Recommended’ rating for the e-car, after receiving reports from 1,400 Tesla owners for its annual reliability study.
The data pulled in by the respected customer champion compelled it to give Telsa a “worse than average overall problem rate.”
Consumer Reports has received a range of complaints regarding the 2013 model’s drivetrain, while malfunctioning touchscreens in the centre console are also prominent.
